Yes, the kelp in the 2 oz package comes from Maine (along with many of our other products), and almost all of our products come from the North Atlantic.

We have a letter that explains more about this complex topic that we’d be happy to send to you (and anyone else). And if you have further questions, please feel free to contact us at questions@seaveg.com and we’ll do our best to answer.

I,am a seaweed lover, but I was very upset to read in your package of organic kelp (2 oz )
The California warning. I believe that your seaweed comes from Maine?
Please let me know if your seaweed is safe or not.
Sincerely,
Michele De Ascentis

So true–so much going on, and not enough time. We all dream about taking Jessie and Nic’s class, but the timing is tough. Maybe one of these years. Happy summer!

As far as shelf life goes, dried sea vegetables can last many years, but we give a two-year “expiration” for most products. Make sure to store the sea veggies in a sealed container, out of direct light and heat–keep them dry and relatively cool. Not in the fridge, though–it’s actually too moist. Enjoy your sea veggies!

Does anyone know the probable shelf life for any of these seaweeds and seaweed products?? I am trying to determine “shelf life” so I can purchase larger amounts for my food preparedness stash.

We miss them, too! A new chip or other seaweed snack food may be coming your way one day.
One idea is to offer the chip seasoning mix, which can be used on a lot of foods. Check out the blog, or our facebook page for news. Thanks again!
